Assistance League of Tucson joins
the Southern Arizona Center Against Sexual
Assault (SACASA) to respond to the needs of victims of sexual assault in our community. When someone has been the victim of a sexual assault, the victim must give
all of their clothing to the police as evidence. Assistance League
prepares and provides
Assault Survivor Kits which contain clothing and toiletries. After
the forensic examination is completed, a victim can wash and dress in
fresh clothes.

More
than 80
victims have been aided by this program each year at a cost of $25 per kit.
Our volunteers prepare the kits and provide them to SACASA.
SACASA sends
a certified female nurse
examiner and an advocate to the victim who is at a local hospital.
The nurse brings the Assault Survivor Kit to the hospital and once the
forensic examination is complete, helps the victim to cleanse and dress.
Thanks to the efforts of Assistance League, SACASA has a ready
supply of Assault Survivor Kits with them to give to female and male
(adult and child) victims at all times. To learn more about SACASA,

The aim
of this program is to reduce some of the trauma of sexual assault in our community,
to help restore dignity to the victim and to allow the healing process to begin.
